How to check the potentiometer of polishing grinder

The function of the potentiometer is to adjust the voltage (including DC voltage and signal voltage) and current. So it is necessary to understand how to check the quality of the potentiometer. So, how to check the potentiometer is good or bad?

Materials: 1pcs of the potentiometer, 1 set of a multimeter. 

Steps: Taking a 10k potentiometer as an example. 

1. Set the multimeter to 20k.

2. Firstly, measure the left and right feet to find if the resistance of the potentiometer is the same as the nominal value. If the difference is too much, the quality is not good. The measured resistance is 9.69k, which is not different from the nominal value. This is normal. 

3. Next, measure the left and middle feet. Turn the potentiometer to the left end. The resistance value of 0 or nearly 0 is normal. 

4. Adjust the potentiometer to the right end, and the resistance will be close to the maximum value of the resistance. The display is 9.69k, so the potentiometer is normal. 

5. Next, measure the middle and right feet. Turn the potentiometer right to the end, and the resistance is 0.

6. Turn left to the end, the resistance is close to the nominal value of the potentiometer, it is normal. 

After these tests, if the resistance is normal, the potentiometer is good.
